JK NAP Condemns Ceasefire Violence, Demands Justice and Peace for Jammu & Kashmir
In a strong statement against the recent escalation along the ceasefire line, the Jammu Kashmir National Awami Party (JK NAP) has denounced the India-Pakistan military aggression, calling it a manifestation of imperialist ambitions that continue to jeopardize peace and civilian lives across the divided region of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a gathering in Nakyal, JK NAP Central President Sardar Niaz Khan, alongside senior leaders Advocate Shahnawaz Ali Sher and Advocate Sardar Jawad Anwar Khan, expressed firm solidarity with the victims of the ceasefire violations and emphasized the urgent need for justice and lasting peace.
> “Kashmiris are not pawns in a geopolitical chess game. This region must not be used as a battleground or an arms-testing laboratory,” said Advocate Shahnawaz Ali Sher.
The party criticized both New Delhi and Islamabad for exploiting Kashmir’s land and people for political gains. On May 4, JK NAP organized a White Flag March at Nakyal Zero Point, delivering a powerful message against militarism and calling for the complete abolition of the ceasefire line.
Demands and Accusations
JK NAP has demanded Rs. 10 million in compensation for each martyr, Rs. 5 million for each injured person, and modern, full-scale restitution for destroyed property and livestock. The party labeled the Rs. 1 million relief package as "insultingly inadequate."
The party also slammed the Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) government's lack of preparation during the crisis — citing the absence of food, electricity, communication, and emergency services — and accused the ruling class of celebrating while citizens were dying.
> “If they are sincere, ministers should donate their one-year salaries and pensions to the victims,” said President Niaz Khan.
“A Proxy Battlefield for Global Powers”
JK NAP warned that Jammu & Kashmir is being transformed into a proxy battlefield for global imperial powers, particularly highlighting India-Israel ties and alleged parallels with the situation in Palestine. They also condemned Prime Minister Modi’s government for escalating violence and committing atrocities under the guise of counterterrorism operations.
The party alleged that the recent conflict ended only after U.S. mediation, revealing the deeper global power dynamics at play. JK NAP urged international bodies, including the United Nations, to recognize the Kashmiri people as the principal stakeholders in determining the region’s future.
> “We are not against the sovereignty of India or Pakistan,” said the leaders, “but we demand the right to peace, dignity, and complete freedom.”
Ongoing Struggle for Peace and Reunification
JK NAP reaffirmed its commitment to the political struggle for the reunification and independence of the State of Jammu & Kashmir, and rejected any proposed formula for permanent division. They encouraged all Kashmiris to unite in a conscious, organized resistance based on national freedom.
The party extended revolutionary greetings to overseas supporters, particularly in Canada, for holding timely peace marches, and saluted its grassroots organizers in Mohra Dharoti who raised white flags on May 4 as a symbol of defiance and peace.
Central JKLF leader Sardar Aman Khan also addressed the affected families. Other JK NAP members, including Sardar Idrees Khan, Sardar Asim Khan, Sajad Ahmad Niazi, Haji Tabsum Khan, Dawood Tariq Chaudhry, Abdul Majid Khan, and Khan Shamraiz, provided detailed briefings on the evolving situation along the ceasefire line.
